The word

Every 210,000 blocks, Bitcoin cuts the reward for a new block in half. There are thirty-three cuts in all, and four are already behind us. The last one comes at block 6,930,000, around the year 2140. The halving has a Wikipedia page and a dozen countdown clocks, but the final cut never had a name.

We gave it one: the Halfture. Every halving before it is a rehearsal. The schedule does not slip and it does not bargain, which is why we count with it.

The app
