Halfture is a word we made up on purpose. It is a noun for the final Bitcoin halving — the last cut on the schedule — and it is the name of this site, which exists to give that event the language it never had. The Bitcoin halving has a Wikipedia page and a dozen countdown clocks. It did not have a noun. Halfture is that noun.
What we do
Halfture publishes essays about the Bitcoin halving — slowly, carefully, in the cadence of a thing that takes itself seriously. Alongside the essays you will find a live countdown to the next halving and plain-English guides to the things that actually matter, like self-custody. We treat the cut as scarcity, not spectacle, and the calendar as the story.
The idea in one line
Halfture = Rapture. The halving is an event with a fixed date, a fixed mechanism, and no negotiation: the schedule does not slip, and it does not pity. Every halving so far — 2012, 2016, 2020, and 2024 — has been a rehearsal. The next arrives in 2028, at block height 1,050,000, when the block reward drops from 3.125 BTC to 1.5625 BTC.
